Let's
Be Neighbors, So That We Can Be A Neighborhood
Jacksonville Sheriff's
Office &
Neighborhood "Crime Watch" Information
This is your space for information regarding the Sheriff's
Office and any criminal related activity in our neighborhood. An
informed neighborhood is a safe neighborhood! Please email
us to notify us of any crime related activity in your area.
While the community benefits from knowing what is going on, the Board of Directors is NOT a substitute for the Police Department. ALL criminal activity should be reported by the home owner directly to the police department. We encourage informative emails to the Board.
Please be aware that the SLPTHOA Board of Directors has engaged officers to randomly patrol our community again this summer. These officers have spoken with many of our residents in the past and have had a wonderful impact. |
Police
Phone Numbers:
All emergencies are handled through the
downtown dispatch office 911. Non-emergencies (crimes
that have occurred, but no one is in a life-threatening
situation) are also handled through the downtown
dispatch office. Please call 630-0500. This is a
24-hour service - the substation is not.
103rd Police Substation: (904) 573-7620
- for non-emergencies not requiring immediate attention.
Substation Services
The 103rd substation, which is actually
located at Wilson & Blanding, is strictly for
non-urgent issues, eg., neighborhood complaints.
They are located at 3726 Blanding Blvd. and their
phone number is 573-3165. They are open Monday
through Friday from 8am til 5pm. Here you can obtain
crime reports, have background checks done, and
get your fingerprints taken. These services are
$5 each.
They are responsible for the westside
area. Basically between I-10, the Clay/Duval county
line and to the river. This area is known as Zone
4. Zone 4 is divided into 3 parts — J, K & L.
We are in subsector "L". The Assistant
Division Chief for Zone 4 is Mark Richardson. He
is in charge for our entire zone.
Each month ShAdCo (Sheriff's Advisory
Council) meets. There are 3 meetings, one for each
sector. Sector J meets the 4th Tuesday of each
month at the substation. Sector K meets the 1st
Monday of each month, again at the substation.
Sector L meets the first Tuesday of each month
at 18065 Pennsylvania Avenue at the Maxville Community
Center at 7pm. Officer Thadson suggests we go to
Sector Ks meeting night. It's closer and has more
people attending. The meetings start at 7pm and
last for 1 hour. A city code enforcement agent
usually attends the ShAdCo meetings. There is always
a 15 minute presentation by Chief Richardson where
he overviews the previous meetings complaints and
how the department addressed them. There is then
an 'open session' for new complaints. These meetings
are orderly and progressive.
There are assorted Stop Stations in
Zone 4. The Gate gas station is one of them. All
this means, is that officers have a place in the
vicinity of whatever they need to report to stop
in, use the phone, the restroom, etc. There are
no regular times for the officers to be there.
Therefore, you cannot count on running to the Gate
and finding a police officer at hand.
03/24/08 - Gang Activity
Our community has had a drastic increase in gang related activity. In the last two weeks fences and phone boxes and anything vertical has been tagged all the way from Rampart to Schindler. Today all of our mailboxes and electric boxes in the subdivision have been tagged. Last week the gentleman across from the park got into a confrontation of some sort, verbal, at about 1 a.m. with a 'tagger'. He has repainted his fence. One resident has pressure washed her sections of the Collins Road fence. We ask residents to please call the police number for the Gang Division: 630-2324. Detective Paris handles our area. The more complaints they get the more activity we are likely to see from our police officers. The Board also suggests that you call our Zone 4 patrol officers at 573-3165.
05/24/07 - Broken Windows, Criminal Mischief
I am Billy Rogers, own and reside at 8213 Pilgrims Trace Dr N. Last night/this morning between the hours of 4 and 5 am May 23/24 a rock was thrown at one of our front windows resulting in a “spider web” crack starting at the center frame. We did not see who perpetrated this crime but know the time because our dog became very excited and was barking. I called the JSO and filed a report on the crime. The Report Number is 463603. Perhaps the board could ask the JSO to perform more patrols and change the schedule of the off-duty patrols for early morning hours instead of the early night hours as they are now.
Thank you, Billy Rogers
Board Response:
TO: Neighborhood Patrol Officer
We've had several windows broken in the past 4 days. Besides this one, by the park and another on Pilgrim's Trace. FM: Mark Spring, SLPTHOA President
06/06/06 - Hit and Run
I would like
to report a hit and run on June 5, 2006. My vehicle was parked in
front of my house at 8168 Fort Lee Trail and when my husband got
home he noticed shards of plastic from a head light on the ground
and large indentations in my back passenger side fender as well
as grazes on my tire. I would like to inform you of this so you
can be aware of the people who come into the first culdesac of the
neighborhood and do u-turns. I do realize there is nothing you can
do as to my point of this email is to inform you of the situation.
Hopefully this will not go un-noticed and may help other home-owners.
Thank you.

05/04/06 - Notes from the
Force
I am sorry to report that my good neighbor
Michael had much of his business equipment taken from his garage
late Sunday night. In the course of the conversation with the police
officer (H.K. Lee), we were told to keep our garage doors closed.
Too often the police find notebooks with details about the contents
of homeowners' garages that the criminals obtained just by driving
through neighborhoods in the daytime and then returning at night
to take.
